How to Choose Headphones/Earbuds-2: Wireless vs Wired

When smart phone and tablet PC become more and more popular, everybody needs at least one set headphones or earbuds, no matter Bluetooth wireless or wired, to enjoy music/podcast everywhere or take a hand-free calling. For most people, it’s still a big challenge to choose the proper headphones/earbuds for his applications? After reading this series of articles prepared by Audiovance, you can make smart choice better than before.

As technology has advanced, so has the way we listen to music.

In the past, the only option was to use wired headphones/earbuds. Now we have the convenience of wireless headphones/earbuds (In the following of this article, we also call earbuds/earphones as headphones).

  • Wired Headphones

Wired headphones have been around for decades and are still widely used today. They are the traditional type of headphones that connect to your device through a cable. The cable is usually either a 3.5mm jack or a USB cable.

Advantages: Wired headphones have several advantages, including a more reliable connection, higher sound quality, low/no latency and no need for charging.

Disadvantages: The cables can be cumbersome and get in the way of movement, making them less ideal for activities such as exercising. They can also get tangled easily and can become damaged over time. Additionally, many modern smartphones no longer have a 3.5mm headphone jack, which means that you need an adapter to use wired headphones.

  • Wireless Headphones

Wireless headphones, on the other hand, connect to your device using Bluetooth technology.

Advantages: They are more convenient because you don't have to deal with cables. This makes them ideal for activities like working out or running. Wireless headphones also often have additional features like noise cancellation and touch controls.

Disadvantages: There are also some downsides to wireless headphones. The connection can sometimes be unstable or prone to interference, resulting in poor sound quality. Additionally, they require a battery that needs to be charged regularly. Mostly, its awesome latency is not good for gaming or watching TV.

In conclusion, both wired and wireless headphones have their pros and cons. Wired headphones are still a reliable and high-quality option, while wireless headphones offer convenience and additional features. The choice ultimately comes down to your personal preference, as well as how you plan to use your headphones.
